BOMBER PILOT RFSCUED
Sth. Pacific Base, Aug. 16. Sergeant Ganley, R.N.Z.A.F., member of a medium bomber crew missing since July 24, was picked up west of Vella Lavella on August 1. The bomber, on a search mission, was attacked by Zeros near Faisd, caught lire, and crashed into the water. Lieutenant-Colonel C. N. F. Bengough, Australian Resident Com- ■ missioner on Guadalcanal the crew, and observer got out successfully. They were strafed by Zeros while ’ floating in the water. r The sergeant presumes that ail the ■ other members of the crew were lost, ? for he did not see any ot them after the strafing. All pilots have been ■ asked to be on the lookout for other survivors.
