GERMAN AERODROMES
BATTERED BY ALLIED BOMBERS Recd. 7.30 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 25. The assault on German aerodromes near the French coast was continued on Wednesday. The Air Ministry and American Headquarters announced:— “American Eighth Air Force Marauders attacked an enemy airfield at Tricqueville and a power station near Rouen this evening. R.A.F. Mitchells bombed an airfield at Bernay St. Martin and Bostons an airfield at Beaumont le Roger. Squadrons of R.A.F., Dominion and Allied Spitfires escorted and covered the bombers. A few enemy fighters were encountered. One was destroyed by R.C.A.F. squadrons. U.S.A.A.F. Thunderbolts made sweeps over Northern France. None of our aircraft is missing from offensive patrol over France and Belgium.”— 8.0.W.
