HLNTERVILLE Mr. J. M. Abel, of “Braemar,” Marshall Road, Hunterville, celebrated his 70th birthday on Friday last and the occasion was marked by a family reunion. It was a particularly happy event as it was the first time that the three Abel sons, with their wives and families, had had the opportunity to assemble round the festive board with their parents for many years. Mr. Abel’s health was enthusiastically toasted. MARTON Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Grut. of Marton, have left for a fortnight’s holiday at Whangarei. BULLS At the annual meeting of the Rangitikei Racing Club on Tuesday evening, the chairman (Mr. R. Mackay) referred to the loss the club had suffered during the year through the deaths of members, these including Mr. John Cameron, a life member and judge for many years; the Hon. H. 1. Armstrong, and Messrs. E. Dwyer, W. A. Green and H. H. Patterson. Mr. D. J. Guiney, the club broadcaster, had also died. A vote of sympathy to be the bereaved relative* was carried in silence.
