NAZI OFFICIALS

CHANGES BY HITLER MORE POWER TO HIMMLER •By Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright) Recd. 6.30 p.m. ( London, Aug. 24. Hitler lias appointed Heinrich Himmler, the Gestapo chief, as Minister of the Interior and general plenipotentiary for Reich Administration. Himmler, in addition to controlling t'he Nazi police, controls the Storm Troopers. The appointment was announced by Berlin radio, which stated that Dr. Frick, hitherto Minister for the Interior has been appointed “Protector" of Bohemia and Moravia, in succession to Count von Neurath. who has been released from that post at his own request. Hitler has also separated the ' Labour Department from the Ministry of the Interior and has appointed the Labour leader, Major-General Hierl, as Minister of Labour. The colonelgeneral of police, Kurt Daluege, will no longer deputise for the “Protector" of Bohemia and Moravia. The first State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Dr. Pfundtrer, has been placed on «the reserved list at his own request. Hitler has also appointed the State Secretary to the “Protector” of Bohemia and Moravia, Karl Hermann Frank, to be Minister of State with the rank of Reich Minister. The whole of Germany apparently has been placed under Gestapo control It appears that Himmler's power has been increased. The official statement announcing the changes says that Hitler thanked Count von Neurah and Dr. Frick and also the police general, Daluege, who has been acting “Protector,” for their “great service to the German people." Cechoslovak circels in London regard the appointments as Hitler’s first reaction on the home front to the fall of Mussolini and the reverses in Russia. Germany is being handed over to the Gestapo and the S.S. by the appointment of Himmler, while the Czechs are being subjected to the rule of Hitler’s old devotee, Frick, who can be trusted to carry out any orders against the Czech patriots.— U.P.A. and 8.0.W,
