McCarthy trust
WANGANUI AND DISTRICT GRANTS ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION The annual distribution of the Thomas George McCarthy Trust took place in Wellington on Tuesday, when a distribution of £16,015 was approved. Of this total £Bl5 has been granted to charities and institutions in the Wanganui district, £625 of which goes to Wanganui city. Present at the meeting were the Governor-General. Sir Cyril Newall, the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, the Metropolitan of New Zealand and Archbishop of Wellington, Archbishop T. O’Shea, the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, and the Public Trustee, Mr. W. G. Baird.
Grants to Wanganui institutions are:- -
Wanganui District Nursing League, £l5; Holy Infancy School, Aramoho, £3O; Aubert Home of Compassion, Wanganui, £3O; Wanganui Marist Brothers’ School, £3O; Wanganui Mothers' Helpers’ Society, £10; Wanganui Plunket Society, £100; St. Anne's Infant School, Wanganui East, £l5; St. Anthony’s Convent School, Gonville, £2O; St. John Free Ambulance, Wanganui, £6O; St. Joseph’s School, Grey Street, £3O; Wanganui St. Vincent de Paul Society, £9O; Wanganui Sarjeant Gallery, £5O; Alexander Museum, £25, and Wanganui Y.M.C.A.-Y.W.C.A., £l2O. District grants are:—
