WANGANUI PIANIST

COLIN HORSLEY’S BROADCAST FROM 8.8. C. Admirers of Colin Horsley, brilliant young Wanganui pianist, were thrilled witn his broadcast through the 8.8. C. on Tuesday night. In the A Minor Study, his performance, a prominent Wanganui musician said, reached a virtuoso standard that is possible only to one endowed with great natural gifts. He also played four Chopin studies with great brilliance and fine appreciation of musical detail. Later he played a Rachmaninoff Prelude and an arrangement of Mendelssohn’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The broadcast gave satisfaction to many Wanganui enthusiasts who helped this young pianist in 1938 to go abroad in his quest for recognition and fame.
