MORE APPEALS HEARD

SITTINGS IN MARTON AND BULLS MEN IN NOVEMBER BALLOT Further appeals, mainly on behalf of reservists called up in the November ballot, were dealt with by the Armed Forces Appeal Board (Wanganui) which sat in Marton and Bulls this week. The board also dealt with applications for the release of men from camp. Mr. F. Purnell (Marton) presided, and asociasted with him on the board were Messrs. A. P. Melville (Fordell > and H. Adams (Wanganui).

Appeals and decisions were:— R. L. Adams, sharemilker, appeal by Mrs. E. B. Campion, adjourned to May 31; A. S. Bird, sharemilker, appeal by Estate of D. Fraser, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; H. G. Briant, farmer, personal appeal, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; L. Gardner, engineer, appeal by Production Engineering Co.. Ltd., adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard.

C. N. Guy, farm hand, appeal by R. H. F. Guy, dismissed, not to be called before May 31; C. N. Hill, carrier, appeal by Hill Carrying Co., Ltd., adjourned to May 31; J. L. Homes, sharemilker, personal appeal, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; T. J. Kendall, farm hand, appeal by W. W. Wilson, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; F. C. McHugh, horse trainer, personal appeal, adjourned to June 30; S. R. Sanson, lorry driver, appeal by Hill Carrying Co.. Ltd., adjourned to May 31; W. D. Scott, farm hand, appeal by G. H. Wilson, dismissed.

L. R. Vile, sheep farmer, personal appeal, adjourned sine die. to remain in Home Guard; T. J. M. Dinwoodie, mill manager, appeal by Marton Sash. Millar, indefinite leave recommended. to join Home Guard: E. W. Caulton for R. R. Sanders, three months' leave recommended: Beckett Estats for W. H. Simpson, leave recommended to April 30; E. G. Frederick for E. L. Stantiall, indefinite leave recommended. to join Home Guard; Hill Carrying Co., Ltd., for F. Stock, indefinite leave recommended: H. L. Wing, personal application, indefinite leave recommended, to join Home Guard.
