“AIM HIGH AND GET HIGH”

GOVERNOR-GENERAL AND AIR TRAINING CORPS VICE REGAL VISIT PAID TO TARANAKI. (P.A.) New Plymouth, March 15.1 The Governor-General, Sir Cyril! Newall, and Lady Newall left Tara-i naki yesterday alter a brief visit. . The Governor-General on Saturdays opened the Taranaki agricultural! show. Earlier he inspected the Newi Plymouth No. 2 Squadron and No. 12; Unit of the Boys’ High School of thej Air Training Corps. The boys had a! record behind them of which thejd could be justly proud, but he hoped! they would not merely be content to! be proud of past achievements, but| let them serve as an inspiration fori the future, said the Governor-Genaral.l His great interest in the Air Training] Corps dated from its very earliest] days in England. Even if the cadets did not go into the air force theirl training in the corps would help inf any profession. He referred to the tremendous increase in civil air traffic, and said that New Zealand with its long distance from America, England, and other parts of the world, would be playing its part. The Governor-General impressed on the boys to do whatever job they were called upon to, on the ground staff or otherwise, thoroughly and well, without need for supervision. To ensure this the standard! set by the Royal Air Force and Royal! New Zealand Air Force was high. That was their target, and he had no doubt that they would hit it. A high! physical standard as well as high! mental alertness was imperative. ’ “Aim high and you will get high,’* said the Governor-General. The Governor-General’s and Lady Newall's other engagements were of a semi-private nature. The party left New Plymouth early yesterday and made a stop at Hawera to attend Divine service.
