PATRIOTIC APPEAL

WANGANUI AND DISTRICT EFFORT DONATIONS ACKNOWLEDGED The Wanganui City' Patriotic Committee has commenced its appeal for its quota to the National Patriotic Fund. The objective is £18,487 and, of this amount, £1929 has already been subscribed. The National Patriotic Fund, of which the quota is a part, is responsible for the provisions of comforts and amenities for all members of the New Zealand forces —Navy, Army and Air Force —serving overseas. In New Zealand it makes available funds for the erection, furnishing and maintenance of recreational huts where men in camps may enjoy their leisure time in reasonably comfortable surroundings. The committee hopes and expects to reach its quota by tiie end of May. All throe services have rendered and are rendering such distinguished services that, the raising of this amount should be accomplished within that time.

The Wanganui Patriotic Office in Ridgway Street, opposite the Pose Office, is open every day from 10 a.m. till 4.30 p.m. and donations may be paid there, or to the manager of any of the local banks.
