COOL STORES BUILDING
MAJOR REPAIRS NECESSARY
An inspection of the cool stores at Castleclift “had revealed that the building was in a bad state of repair, said the chairman of the Works Committee, Mr. G. P. Hawkins, at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Harbour Board yesterday. The board adopted a recommendation that repairs be deferred for three months, or till Scheme 13 labour is available. H the meantime any temporary repairs necessary will be carried out. Mr. Hawkins said the repair work would mean a major undertaking, but labour was not available at the pre : sent time, he believed that the immediate difficulties could be overcome by strengthening the building temporarily. In reply to a question by Mr. J. J.
Scott, the secretary, Mr. I. Hedditch, said no Scheme 13 m?n were at present employed by the board.
