MARTON BOWLING CLUB FULL-RINK CHAMPIONSHIP The final games in the full-rink championship were played on Saturday with tne following results: K. Fowler, Williams, Kilpatrick, Poidevin 20, v. Bull, Winchcombe, Denbow, Barton 23; Kivell, Green, Hempieman, Brabyn 15, v. Morgan, Watt, Morris, Atkinson 14; Black, Setford, Hawkins, Mildenhall 18, v. Gardner, Bending, Gorrie, S. Marr 19; Dixon, Finnimore, Nuttall, Goebel 27, v. Gibson, McDonald, Lourie, Tilley 16; Petrie, Sanders, Hamer 13, v. Healy, Gibbs, Hunter 20; Freeth, Ferens, Caverhill 12, v. Tolley, Thomson, Upchurch 23.

For the full-rink championship the semi-tinals will be played on Saturday, when Setford, Healy, Kilpatrick, Barton will play Bending, Freeth, Mildenhall, Tilley, and Winchcombe. Finnimore, Gibbs, Atkinson will play Morgan, McDonald, Lourie, Hunter. Presidents’ Cup

The first match for the Presidents' Cup for three pairs contest between Marton and Bulls Club took place at Bulls during the week-end. The match resulted in a win for Bulls with two games. Following are the results, Marton players mentioned first: G. Denbow, A. Caverhill 14, v. K. Drew, J. Stevens 26; J. Hawkins, A. Way 25, v. W. Stevens, G. Clark 10; R. Lewis, W. Hamer 9, v. H. Stevens, G. Murphy 24. The cup was presented to the Bulls Club by Mrs. Clark and also the buttons to the winning players. Mr. A. Way congratulated the Bulls Club on its initiative in promoting the contest, which should be the means of retaining the friendly spirit between the two clubs.

Mr. G. Clark replied that he was sure the cup would create keen competition among the players and the alternate matches at Bulls and Mar ton would be a good scheme. Cheers were given for the players and for the ladies who provided afternoon tea. NATIONAL SAVINGS For the 73rd. successive week the flag was hoisted at the Marton Post Office on Saturday as an indication that Marton’s quota had been obtained. FIRE BRIGADE EUCHRE TOURNEY Sorty players took part in the Marton Fire Brigade’s euchre tourney on Saturday night, the winners being Mrs. E. Sayers and Mr. A. Mildenhall. The consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs. McKenzie and Mr. J. Price. ANGLING IN RANGITIKEI THREE BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW During the week-end Mr. J. Wing, of South Makirikiri, was successful in landing three splendid specimens of rainbow trout at Lake William. The heaviest was 721bs. when landed and the three, when cleaned, weighed HJlbs. The trout were in splendid condition. POREWA-CLDT ROAD DISTRICT “SHOP” SUCCESSFUL DANCE TO AID FUNDS The dance held in the Empire Hail on Saturday evening last was quite successful, there being a large attendance o£ dancers present, and the funds, which are in aid of the Porewa-Clift Road district “shop," will benefit considerably. The music was supplied by Mrs. Bostock's orchestra and the duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr. Head. Several novelty dances were on the programme and the card competition was won by Mr. Jim Fowler. The supper arrangements were under the supervision of Mrs. C. Whitford, ably assisted by Mesdames K. Glasgow, G. Henderson, Newall, S. White, Williams, A. H. Marshall, D. R. Godfrey, A. Ingle, Carr and Gibbs. MARTON GOLF CLUB The annual meeting of the Marton Golf Club will be held on Tuesday, March 23, at 8 p.m. in the Marton Jockey Club's rooms.
