AMERICAN PLANES
OPERATIONS IN' PACIFIC Recd. 6 p.m. Rugby, March 12. A United. States Navy Department communique states: "On the morning cl March IU, United States planes attacked the Japanese positions at Kiska in the Aleutians and scored oomb hits on the target area. Later in the morning Liberator heavy bombers and M.itcnell medium bombers, escorted by Lightning lighters, again attacked enemy installations at Kiska. "Anti-aircraft batteries were bombed and sir: Jed at a low level. Hits Ade scored. Three buildings in the camp area v.ere damaged oy heavy jomo hits. All our planes returned. “Early in tne morning oi iviarcn 11 Liberators carried out minor bomoing attacks on Japanese positions in the ivaiiffi-Balale-ahortiand islands area in the South Pacific, and also on Vila in the central Solomons.
