PARADE DEFAULTERS

HOME GUARDSMEN IN COURT Wellington, March 13. Four young men, motor drivers by occupation and members of the Line of Communication Motor Transport Company, were charged in the Magistrate's Court yesterday with failing to attend Home Guard parades, and one of them, Kenneth Charles Kinnis Maddison, aged 18, who had been previously fined for a similar offence, was sentenced to 14 days’ hard labour by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M. The others, Ronald John Jefferies, Roy Charles Musgrove, and Henry Phillip Charles Tyrrell, were each fined £lO and costs. The magistrate remarked that the defendants seemed to have shown a callous disregard for their obligations.
