The reserve on February 8 amounted to £32,362,733. an increase of £287,946. A year ago the reserve was £18,166,433. Sterling exchange on February 8 totalled £29,667,474, an increase of £382.116. Liabilities in currencies other than New Zealand currency were £106,618 (an increase of £94,170), thus making the bank’s net overseas assets £29 550,856, an increase for the week of £287,946. A year ago these assets totalled £15,364.555. Advances to the State Marketing Department total £659,829, a decrease of £119,981. A year ago they were £4,421,196. Advances to the State for other purposes are unchanged at £30,000,000, against £23,750,000 a year ago. The note issue on February 8 totalled £29,957,559, an increase for the week of £77,979. A year ago it stood at £23,456 804. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £11,976,659, a decrease of £339.319. The trading banko’ reserve balances total £22,635,602, a decrease of £107,059. Other liabilities at £1,580,157 have increased by £377,376. The statement balances at £69,327,235, an increase of £108,510.
