NEW TACTICS USED AGAINST SUBS.

(Recd. 6 p.m.) London, Feb. 16. New offensive methods have been developed against U-boats in the Mediterranean. This was revealed to-day by the Alied naval chief in the Mediterranean, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Andrew Cunningham, who quoted figures proving the success of the new methods.

Since we landed in North Africa, 780 ships have been convoyed into African ports, carrying 6,500,000 tons of car<o, with losses amounting to less than 2 per cent. The Admiral said that the new defensive methods would be improved still more. He also said that supply ships were making increased use of Tripoli harbour.
