TWELVE THOUSAND A DAY
MEN FOR U.S. ARMY Washington, Feb. 13. The Manpower Director, Mr. McNutt, and the Selective Service Director, Mr. Hershey, broadcasting, warned the nation that 12,000 men must henceforth be drafted into the armed forces daily in order to reach the goal of an additional 4,000,000 at the end of the year. They added that many heads of families will be called up for the army, naval, marines and coastguard, as the manpower need grows day by day. No activity or occupation will be considered essential, unless it is of great urgency fordhe war effort.
