BRITISH SUBMARINE
BACK FROM SECRET AFRICAN MISSIONS (Recd. 6 p.m./ Rugby, Feb. 14. The British submarine which landed the British and American secret mission in North Africa before the invasion, brought the officers off after they had made arrangements for the Allied landing with the French and brought. General Giraud from the French coast so that he could be flown to General Eisenhower’s headquarters, has returned to its home base. ■The submarine commander, Lieut. N. L. A. Jewell, R.N., who by his share in these missions contributed much to the success of the North African campaign, is 29 years of age and was on his first operation command when he was entrusted with these highly important special missions.—B.O.W.
