REGENT THEATRE
Picturing another acute phase of war on the home front, the threat of sabotage of our forests, Universal presents a new lumber camp drama, “Timber,” at the Regent Theatre today. Heralded as action-packed, the film co-stars Leo Carrillo, Andy Devine and Dan Dailey, Jr. Marjorie Lord, stage beauty, who is a newcomer to the screen, and Edmund MacDonald have outstanding roles in the supporting cast which includes James Seay and Wade Boteler. Jean Phillips, former double for the late Jean Harlow, enacts the colourful' role of villianess. Carrillo portrays the operator of a lumber mill. Devine is a “bull of the woods,” or logging foreman, on a timber project which is menaced by saboteurs. Dailey plays a scrapping undercover G-Man assigned to investigate mysterious accidents which, essentially, are hindering the production of lumber for munition industries. The associate feature, "Singapore Woman,” starring Brenda Marshall, is a romantic and intriguing drama of the Malay Straits.
