SLIGHT INCREASE THIS YEAR

VISITORS TO ARAMOHO PARK MOTOR CAMP Though the Wanganui City Council’s motor camp at Aramoho Park is experiencing a lean period, compared with the days when petrol was plentiful, the number of campers this season shows a slight Increase when compared with Christmas, 1941. The new cabin accommodation is again popular and is fully occupied, but the demand for the older type of hut is not so keen. Nearly all ’the covered accommodation was booked before the holidays, but only 40 campers arrived on Christmas Eve. Next day there was a slight increase. One caravan arrived and six tents were pitched. On Boxing Day there were 100 campers on the park and this population is being steadily maintained, most of the parties having booked for a week or ten days. There are five parties from Wellington and the remainder are visitors from Marton, Feilding and Palmerston North and one is from New Plymouth. A party from Canterbury visited the camp on Christmas Eve. A Wellington camper said he had not used his car for seven months and had saved his petrol allowance to make the trip'to Wanganui again this season. The park is being used daily by Wanganui residents, particularly for afternoon and twilight tea parties.
