OBITUARY
CAPTAIN H. L. de F. GARLAND. The death has occurred of Captain Harold L. de F. Garland, who was railway transport officer at Auckland. Born 57 years ago, Captain Gariano was on the permanent staff of the New Zealand Army before the outbreak of the last war. He served overseas, but several his connection with the army when he returned. Entering civil life, he became manager of the Passenger Transport Company at Papatoetfe. Captain Garland re-entered the army again when the present war broke out, with his old rank. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. One son is a prisoner of war, while the other is an instructor at a tank school. One daughter, Miss Meg. Garland, is a member of the W.A.A.C.
