OBITUARY
MRS. ANNE TALBOT Mrs. Anne Talbot, who died at Halcombe on October 8, was born in -Northamptonshire, and at the time of her death had reached the good age of 92 years. She arrived in New Zealand on December 3, 1874, in the ship Shubar with her husband Stephen Talbot. They landed at Wellington and proceeded to Wanganui. As no house 5 were available they lived in the old Rutland Stockade in Queen’s Park. Her husband predeceased her seven years ago. Mrs Talbot was an ardent worker for the Salvation Army for many ye;.rs She also passed through the Maori War scare of many years ago. She left a daughter Mrs. J. Fitches, of Turakina—and a son, Mr. Ted Talbot, of Mokauiti, also nine grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children.
