“H. M. Pulham, Esq,” which as a novel topped the best-srller lists for many months, comes to the Majestic to-day with Hedy Lamarr, Robert Young and Ruth Hussey in the major roles. The screen has given even greater fluidity to the story of the young Bostonian aristocrat, cast by destiny in a mould from which he cannot escape. After the World .War he essays a career in New York, meets the woman who becomes the one great love of his life, then through circumstances returns to Boston to develop into a creature of habit, content with the woman his family had destined him to marry. When, twenty years later, he seeks to recapture the romance of his youth, he finds that it. is too late. Hedy Lamarr’s portrayal of Marvin Myles, the young advertising copy writer who scorns the placidity of a conservative Boston existence, is undoubtedly the finest, role of her film career. Young is perfectly cast as Harry Pulham and Ruth Hussey, also, is an excellent choice for the role of the typically Bostonian, Kay Mot ford, who makes Pulham a good if unexciting wife.
