JAPS IN ALEUTIANS
SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS BY ALLIED PLANES (Recd. 8 p.m.) Washington. Sept. 28. Successful attacks on Japanese shore installations, ships and aircraft at I\iska. in the Aleutians, were reported in a Navy Department communique. A . for ce of heavy Army bombers atta -.1 enemy installations on Septomher 24 but results were not obs®rv d. e following day a strong force of Army bombers and pursuit planes, accompanied by jßoyal Canadian Air Force planes, attacked shore instalmtifbns and ships at Kiska. Two subnAarines were strafed, six seaplanes wore destroyed on the water and a selventh shot down. Bomb hits started fines on one or two transports in the I harbour and a damaged ship was last scan beached. It is estimated that 150 Japanese were killed or wounded.
