MORE APPEALS HEARD
DECISIONS IN WANGANUI Among the appeals dealt with by the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board (Wanganui District) at a sitting in Wanganui yesterday were a number o£ applications for the release ot men from camp. The board consisted of Messrs. F. Purnell (chairman), J. J. Lissette, and H. Adams. Appeals heard and decisions were: Kempthorne, Prosser and Co., Ltd., appealed for the following employees: F. C. Hoskyn, sewing machine operator, adjourned to November 30; S. J. Wright, acid mixer, adjourned sine die, to join Home Guard. J. P. Johnston, carrier, personal appeal, adjourned to November 30; T. B. McCarthy, assistant sales manager, appeal by Levin and Co., Ltd., adjourned sine die, to join Home Guard; E. C. Mayes, metal machinist, review of an appeal bv Eaton and Marshall, adjourned sine die while engaged on defence work, to remain in Lines of Communication (M.T.) Unit; M. H. Moeller, electric welder, appeal by Director of National Service, adjourned sine die, to join Home Guard; C. P. Mooney, motor garage proprietor, personal appeal, dismissed, not to be called before November 31. C. E. Parkes, head cross-culter, appeal by Director of National Service, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; D. Peat, farm hand, appeal by Director of National Service, dismissed, not to be called before January 31: H. E. Perkins, shearer, appeal by W. Hall, dismissed, not to be called before January 31; A. E. Stewart, baker, appeal by C. E. Stewart, adjourned sine die, to join Home Guard. Appeals lodged against overseas service by. or on behalf of, serving Territorials, were:—E. J. Lloyd, dismissed, conditional on reservist not being required to serve outsid-' New Zealand; R. J. Havill, dismissed, conditional on reservist not being renuired to serve outside N"w Zealand; F. Lineker, dismissed (leave till December 31 for farm work recommended). The following anneals against Home Guard service were dealt with: E. H. L. Bernau, appeal by Law and Order Unit. E.P.S., adiourned sine die; S. Cvitanovich, personal appeal, dismissed: A. H. Burnett, personal apneai. dismissed. Applications for the release of men from camo were: H. Bailev for A. Desmond, release to D"cember 31 recommended: A. J. Donald for E. N. Butters, release recommended till October 31; M. T. Cooper, personal application. leave recommended to January 31.
