TOOHEY S. LTD. PROMT. Not profit of Toohey's, Limited, Sydney, for the year ended July 31 was £122,497 (after providing £32,568 short taxation from the previous year), compared with £146.360. The dividend for the year was 8 per cent., a reduction of 1 per cent. N.Z. NEWSPAPERS DIVIDEND An unchanged interim dividend of Sd. a share has been declared by New Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., for the half-year ending September 30. The dividend is payable on October 1. MILNE AND CHOYCE, LTD. Reviewing the year's operations at the annual meeting of shareholders of Milne and Ciioyce, Limited, last week. Mr. J. S. Milne, chairman of directors, stated that for every £ spent in the store 12s 10Jd. or 64.4 per cent, went in the purchase of goods, 3s 10d (19.1 per cent.) went in wages. Is 7Jd (8.1 per cent.) went in taxes on profits only. Is Id (5.4 per cent.) went in trading expenses, s<d (2.4 per cent.) went in diviuends to snaivholders. and If (.6 per cent.) went back into the business in reserves, etc.
