SERVICE APPEALS

SITTING OF NO. 2 BOARD DECISIONS ANNOUNCED The No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board (Wanganui) sat yesterday in Wanganui, when appeals for release from camp or for exemption from service were dealt with. The personnel of the board was Messrs. F. Purnell (chairman), J. J. Lissette and H. Adams. Appeals and decisions were:— A. C. Addenbrooke, application for release for farm work by H. C. Addenbrooke, release recommended until November 30; C. Church, release for farm work, appeal by O’Neill and Sons, release recommended until December 31; H. A. Tovell-Soundy, appeal by E. D. Grant, farmer, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard; H. W. Atkinson, appeal by T. Dix, controller E.P.S., Waitotara County, dismissed; K. L. Brown, appeal by Director of National Service, dismissed not to be called before November 30; W. M. Burke, gardener, appeal by Sisters of St. Joseph, dismissed, not to be called before November 30; A. T. Gibson, teacher, appeal by Wanganui Education Board, adjourned to November 30 (Gibson opposed the appeal); F. F. Hamilton, appeal by estate of F. J. Finer, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard. i D. L. Bailey, farmhand (volunteer [for overseas) to be released for camp (after November 30; D. S. Ellison, application for leave from camp, leave .recommended until October 31; D. M. Webb, tinsmith, rehearing of appeal by Southern Cross Biscuit Company, dismissed, not to be called before November 30; L. J. Williams, storekeeper, personal appeal, adjourned sine die. to remain in Home Guard; O. F. Francis, appeal by Municipal Gas Department, adjourned sine die, to remain in Home Guard.
