WAR CORRESPONDENT SAFE
Sydney, Sept. 24. Missing since August 7, when an Allied plane disappeared over New Guinea. Vern Haugland, representing the Associated Press of America, is now reported to be safe at Port Moresby, where he arrived by plan'e on Wednesday. He is in hospital suffering from exhaustion, lack of food, and malaria. Haugland is believed to have parachuted from a plane when a shortage of fuel made a crash inevitable.
