U.S. NAVAL BASE
CANAL ZONE INSPECTION Balboa (Canal Zone), Sept. 25. Colonel Frank Knox, Secretary of the Navy, has arrived at the Cocosolo naval base for an inspection of the Canal Zone’s naval. installations. Colonel Knox said that defence against air attack here was as perfect as anywhere in the world, and paid a tribute to Army and Navy co-opera-tion in defence. He praised especially the co-operation of the governments of Panama and Central and South America, and said that apparently everybody appreciated the gravity of the situation on this active war front, and this potential danger spot, which duplicates conditions in the Southwestern Pacific.
