ALASKA HIGHWAY
READY BY DECEMBER Washington, Sept. 24. The Secretary for War, Mr. Stimson, announced that the Alaska highway will be ready for use on December 1. The whole 1600 miles will he available for traffic until the spring thaws render it impassable during April and May. The construction of the highway is months ahead of schedule. Moreover, instead of the rough pioneer road which was originally contemplated, it is a well-graded and well-drained truck road over its entire length.
