WAVERLEY COMMITTEE

At a meeting of the Waverley Patriotic Purposes Committee the secretary reported that the sum of £2Ol 8s 9d remained to be collected 1o reach the district’s quota of £2OOO. The chairman, Mr. A. E. Symes, advised that he had assured the Wanganui District Committee that the quota would be forthcoming, but said there were still some 150 citizens who had yet to respond to the committee’s appeal. Canvassers would call on these people, whose names were carefully listed, but Mr. Symes appealed to donors themselves not to wait but to forward their donations to the hon. secretary, Mr. J. E. Coutts, not later than Tuesday next, September 29. Waverley people had' always responded magnificently, said Mr. Symes, and he was sure they would do so now.
