CHAMPION SHUT OUT WINS New York, Sept. 22. Racing.—lmperatrice, at odds of 19 to 1, won the Fall High-weight Handicap, of 7500 dollars, from Tola Rose and the favourite, Double Rab, on the opening day of the Belmont Park meeting. The Syonsby Handicap, of 3000 dollars, was won by the tnree-year-old champion Shut Out, with Corydon second and Blueberry Pie third. Belmont race track officials are seeking a return race between Whirlaway and Alsab during the Week of Champions, starting on October 12, and it is hoped the Kentucky Derby winner, Shut Out, will be included in the race. All the proceeds are to go to the Army and Navy Relief. Golf. —Private Mike Turnesa won the 54-hole Decatur open golf tournament, with a 1000 dollars prize, with a score of 204, which is nine under par. Lawn Tennis.—Frankie Parker beat Francesco Segura 6—4, 6—l, 6—3, in the men's singles of the Pacific Southwest tournament. Baseball.—Ten pounds of scrap metal will serve as admission to the Dodgers’ five remaining games at Ebbets Field. Boxing.—Welter-weight Ray Robinson has oeen suspended by the Massachusetts State Boxing Commission for failing to report for his scheduled bout with George Martin. The suspension will remain effective until Robinson fulfils the contract or secures his release. Football.—Daniel Reeves, president and owner of the Cleveland Rams professional football team, has joined the Army Air Corps as a second lieutenant. American Legion.—The American Legion has unanimously elected Roane Waring, of Memphis, its commander, succeeding L. U. Stambaugh.
