Less Whitebait Received.
t Wanganui fish merchants state that s supplies of whitebait are slower in ■ coming to hand this season than at ■ the corresponding time last year. The 1 principal reason for the smaller quantity of this popular delicacy is the abt normal amount of wet weather which - has been experienced over the past six - weeks. The industry is one which it s not greatly affected by labour shorti age due to the war. since most of the I whitebait is netted by hand by Maorii - in the Lower Waikato district. Th< i season will close in the middle oi November.
