PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE. (0.C.) Taihape, Sept. 24. The Mayor, Mr. E. Loaner, presided over the monthly meeting of the Patriotic Committee (Zone G. Mrs. Bowater was appointed delegate from the Fighting Forces Club in place of Mrs. P. Kearins who has resigned. Mrs. Emery attended in the place of Mr. D. Coleman, who has resigned as delegate from the Social Committee. A letter of appreciation for a parcel received was read from Pte. R. I. Hawkins, 5.M.0., Middle East Forces. The knitting committee reported the completion of 43 khaki scarves, three balaclavas for the Army and for the Navy, four large pullovers, three pairs mittens and one pair of hip length socks. The pupils of th 6 District High School sent in one pair of socks, six balaclavas and four pairs mittens. The wool had been provided by the patriotic society. A letter from the Patriotic Funds Board to the Wellington Metropolitan Patriotic Committee pointed out that no committees may hold funds. Funds must be sent to the Patriotic Board and all expenses must be met from the imprest account. Mr. Bartosh raised the question of the Lady Galway Junior Guild. The committee had been given to understand the Guild was holding £2OO. Mr. Loader stated that Mr. Vincent Ward would be in Taihape in October and the matter could be left until then.
