SEVERE ENEMY RAID

ENGLISH COASTAL TOWN London, May 20. ; An enemy raid on a town on the I north-east coast last night was severe. Despite heavy anti-aircraft fire, the raiders dive-bombed after dropping incendiaries. There were casualties, some of which were fatal, in residential districts. Rescuers at mid-day were still attempting to extricate seven people who were buried under debris when working-class flats were hit. A German communique states that the Luftwaffe last night dropped explosives and incendiaries in the port area at Hull, starting several fires, and that light bombers also attacked factories on the south coa c t of England.
