OBITUARY.

MR. ROBERT ONYON. i The death has occurred of Mr, ! Robert Onyon, aged 67, of Wellington. He was 26 years in the Public Service and was well known in Parliamentary circles, having served in the Department of Inlet :tal Affairs and Department of Justice. He retired a year ago. MR. SAMUEL BOWI.ER, J.P. ’ A prominent farmer at Makara and in recent years a resident of Karori, Wellington, Mr. Samuel Bowler, J.P., died recently at the age of 81. Mr. Bowler was born at Lower Hutt and spent most of his life till 1928 at Makara, where he was associated with many public bodies. MR. E. M, BANNISTER. The death occurred in Masterton on Wednesday morning of Mr. Edwin Masters Banniser m his eighty-lirst year. Mr. Bannister was the oldest surviving resident born in Masterton. He was the fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bannister, pioneer residents of Masterton, and a grandson of Mr. Joseph Masters, founder of the town of Masterton. MR. T. L. M. BAKKER. Well-known in surveying and horticultural circles in Canterbury and Wellington, and in his youth one ,of Wellington's most successful athletes. Mr. T. M. Barker died last week at Otaki, at the age of 82. Born at Geelong, Victoria, he came to New Zealand in 1879 with a party of surveyors engaged by the New Zealand Government to make a resurvey of Canterbury. He afterward joined the Property Tax Department, and later transferred to the Government Life Insurance Department, where he remained till his retirement in 1924. Mrs. Allan Bull (Hunterville) is a daughter. MR. U. J. OHLSON. The death has occurred of Mr. F. J. (“Curly”) Ohlson, aged 77. reports a Press Association telegram from Auckland. Mr Ohlson had represented Auckland in Rugby and cricket, and was a noted runner. He was also a tennis enthusiast, and coached school children in the finer points of the game. Ho visited Britain with the 1924 All Blacks, and saw Davis Cup matches in Auckland, the United States, and in France. MRS. MARY WILDS. At the age of 83 years, Mrs. Mary Wills, widow of the Rev. Thomas Wills, died at Waipukurau on Saturday She was a former Ormondville resident of long standing. One son. Mr. W. H. Wills, lives in Waipukurau, and' another, Mr. E. J. Wills, at Ahipara. MRS. E. E. BROOME. The death has occurred at Hastings Memorial Hospital of Mrs. Fdith Emily Broome, after a short illness. Born in Greytown 72 years ago, sh« married Thomas Joseph Broome m 1899 She and her husband then moved to To Awamutu. and later to Hamilton, where he was employed as a herd-tester. Mr. Broome died in Hamilton about six years ago. and Mrs. Broome went to Hastings, where she lived till her rloal h. THE WEATHER (Special) Wellington, May 21.
