BOY FOR BORSTAL
SUPREME ( Ol RT SENTENCE To be detained in a Borstal institution for a period of three years was tne sentence imposed in the vVanganui Supreme Court yesterday by Mr. Justice Smith on Frederick John Stutbridge, aged 16i years, who had pleaded guilty in the Children's Court lo assaulting Mrs. C. B. M. MacDonadl in her home, Parapara Road, on the night of April 27, thereby causing actual bodily harm. The boy was remanded from the Childrens Court to be dealt with. “You are before this Court on a very serious charge of assaulting an elderly person,” said His Honour. “The circumstances of your crime are so grave that I can't understand how you could assault this elderly person. In fait, you thought you had killed her, ami all for the sake of obtaining the keys of her motor-car so that you could go for a drive. I nope you realise the terrible thing you did. Do you? “Yes, sir,” replied the boy. “The report upon you show; that you have a bad record,” said His Honour. “I am strongly of opinion that you need a long course of observation in a Borstal institution. I propose to send there for three vears. 1 hope that you will try to make a man of yourself and that when you come out you will be a good citiz.n.”
