OPENING OF 1942 SEASON Fine weather prevailed for the opening of the Wanganui Football Association season on Saturday. In an exciting match Technical College A beat United 3—l. The excellent play of the full-backs was a feature of the game. The teams were:- - Technical A.—H. Smith (captain), T. McKay, J. White, R. Baddeley, J. Williams, O. Robb, K. Mew, N. Carthwright, D. Green, R. Lammerton and J. Morrison. United.— Dashfield, Mailman (captain), Cresswell, Catanach, JamesBarnes, R. W. McCarten, I. R. Green, E. F. Welton, I. Hessell, and L. Matthews. Emergencies: R. Feild and J. Cavell. The referee was Mr. J. Thompson.
