GANDHI AND WAR CAUSE Bombay, May 17. "Mr. Amery’s performances, as Secretary of State for India, and Sir Stafford Cripps’ mission, made Britain morally wrong. Therefore, while I do not wish any humiliation or defeat for Britain, my mind refuses to give her my moral support,” said Mahatma Gandhi in an interview. Asked, to which side India should give her moral support in the war, Gandhi said: "There can be no aid for either side, but my sympathies are undoubtedly in favour of China or Russia. Britain and America lack a moral basis for engaging in this’ war unless they put their own houses in order by making it their fixed determination to withdraw their influence and power 'from Africa and Asia and remove the colour bar. They have no right to talk of protecting democracy, civilisation, and human freedom until the canker ot white superiority is destroyed.’ ’
