He merit: ail the help mid sympathy that every section of the eommunitj ran extend to him. In his visit to Wanganui he is doubly welcome because important problems require adjusting. In defence matter: there are very serious defects which, but Mr the high prestige o' Lieutenant-Colonel S. G. Gould, would have been publicly can vassed before, now. The Array has this officer to thank in.verj large measure for the absence of criticism in the Wanganui dis Iriil. The. difficulty, however, is that, the defects remain. There will, in consequence, he work for Lieutenant-General Puttiek to de to-day. The problem of the Harbour Board’s position under war. lime conditions is shared in common with other provincial harboui boards, and is not an isolated or local business. The problem oi adjusting the revenue of the boards from a local to a. national bash will require that the subject be canvassed from the widest possible point of view. With these, and kindred matters Mr. Fraser is well equipped to deal, and he has the desire to deal with them equitably anti soundly.
