RODE BUCKING BRONCO
Auckland, May 15. Winning a 10-dollar prize for riding a bucking bronco at a rodeo at La Brescia, Southern California, was a feat performed by the Rev. Jasper Calder, Auckland city missioner, during a health-recruiting trip to the United States, from which he has returned. Mr. Calder said that, while visiting the rodeo, he was introduced to the judges and happened to mention that in his youth he had done .some horseriding. Almost before he realised what was happening, he was introduced to a bronco, and, more surprising still, “lasted the distance” on it. The unusual sight of a cowboy in clerical darb drew great applause from the spectators.
