SMASHED BY R.A.F.
THIRTEEN BIG JUNKERS SHOT DOWN London, May 13. Fighters of the Royal Air Force in the Middle East have given the Luftwaffe another beating, this time off the North African coast. Yesterday they encountered a considerable force of big Junkers transport planes escorted by Messerschmitts, and shot down into the sea 13 of the Junkers and two of the Messerschmitts. Others of the German force were so badly damaged that they probably shared the same fate. Only one of the British planes was lost.
