ROTOKI A-TAITO DISTRICT The trout-fishing season in the Rotorua-’J aupo district will end at 11 o'clock to-night. It has been a season of exceptionally poor weather Irom the angler’s point of view, and, although good results have been obtained in tne Rotorua area, lisning at 'j'aupo has been disappointing, states a Ro’torua correspondent. The conservator of lish and game, Mr. A. Kean, said that the number oi anglers had been smaller than in past seasons. There had been very icw overseas visitors, and petrol restrictions had prevented many anglers from other parts of New Zealand irom making their usual trips. Fish taken in the Rotorua district had generally been in good condition. Some line fish had been taken on the fly at Lake Tarawera, the biggest recorded being one of 191 b. When asked the reason for the decline in the quality of lhe fish al Taupo, compared with the magnificent specimens taken last year. Mr. Kean said the department was not prepared to make a public statement. He added that some anglers reported taking line fish at Taupo in the early mornings and late at night.
