Puketutu, King Country— This well-known high quality Aberdeen Angus Stud will be dispersed as above, and comprises: 100 stud cows and heifers 6 stud bulls 19 rising two-year-old bulls 28 bull calves 153 The Puketutu Stud was founded with some of the best cattle obtainable from the foundation studs of the Dominion, the families represented being the noted Flower strain, Pride of Kyle (imp.), Beauty of Ben Lomond, Honesty of Ben Lomond, Flower of Thoresby, Celandine of Drummuir (imp.), Actress of Ben Lomond, and the Favourite strain. In addition to females of the Flower strain through Helen 3rd and Empress of Ben Lomond, the foundation sires were all closely descended from the great Flower. The foundation sires were Mistrel of Tautane, by a son of Empress of Ben Lomond from the imported cow Elba of Page 4th, descended from the groat bull Eland of Ballandalloch, and Donald o’ Hinemoa, a son of Flower 3rd of Ben Lomond. As would be anticipated this is a very high quality herd. It was very heavily and carefully culled each year and now comprises an outstanding collection of highly-bred cattle of this popular breed. The six sires to be sold are an outstanding lot. of individuals, comprising Barometer of Mangamaire (sire, Sultan of Ben Lomond, dam from the famous Jolliment family), Qualer of Tautane (sire, Qualatum 22nd of Tautane, dam from Eclypta family), Fluke of Puketautu (Mistral of Tautane, dam from Jolliment family), Isaac of Puketutu (a great type, line-bred to famous Flower family), Jumbo of Puketutu (a grandson of Jerdin Eric, imp.), and Count of Haku (a bull of pure Akitio blood and sired by Euxidor 7th, imp.).
