Lieut.-Colonel J. R. Page, D. 5.0., is the elder son of Mr. J. rage, sports master at the Southland High Sunooi, where he was educated. He was one oi the outstanding secondary school footballers ol his day, and was known as "Rusty,” a nickname which has stuck to him ever since. Prominent as a school cadet, he was chosen tor special training at Sandhurst. Military College, England. On his return to New Zealand he represented Wellington at Rugby, and played for the All Blacks in 1931, 1932, 1934, and 1835. With the Second N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East he commanded the 27th. (Canterbury) Battalion, and was severely wounded. He returned to New Zealand last month. Lieut-Colonei e. jd. Weir, D. 5.0., when holding the rank of sergeantmajor of a squadron of artillery in Wellington, was chosen by the Defence Department to receive technical training at the Royal Academy, Woolwich. On his return to the Dominion he was given a commission in the Royal New Zealand Artillery. He was educated at the Otago Boys’ High School and was a keen n.c.o. in the school cadets. At the outbreak of the present war he was appointed Commanding Officer 6th. Field Regiment and later succeeded Brigadier R. Miles as C.R.A. New Zealand Division when Brigadier Miles was reported missing. Lieut.-Colonel C. Shuttleworth. D. 5.0.. received his training with the •New Zealand Staff Corps, and last year was appointed to the command of the 24th. (Auckland) Battalion.
