An Admiralty communique says thßt a Junkers 88, which was attacking a Russian merchant ship in the Arctic, has been shot down by H.M. auxiliary minesweeper Stefa. The Junkers was attacking a Russian ship when the Sefa opened fire and hit the aircraft, which crashed into the ice and burst into flames. The action took place on Friday and the good shooting reflects great credit on the gun’s crew since the Stefa had been at sea in severe weather and ice for a long period. There were no casualties or damage. —8.0.W.
