ATTEMPTED MURDER
CHARGE AT HOKITIKA AGAINST PUBLICAN (P.A.) Hokitika, March 18. In the Magistrate’s Court John Morrc-sey, aged 37, publican, Mataroa, was charged that at Wataroa on February 19, he attempted to murder Aage Anton Pedersen and also/ Thomas Francis Walsh. Lengthy evidence on the lines ol statements published at the time oi the occurrence, with admissions by accused made to police officers on the morning of the shooting acknowledging his action, were heard. I The evidence of Pedersen and' Walsh was taken at the Westland j Hospital, where both are still] patients, on the road to recovery.! Walsh’s evidence stated that both I Pedersen and Morresey were both i very drunk and fought for a con-' siderable time before the shootin:, i took place. "j Accused was committed for trial atl Lhe next sitting of the Court at Greymouth. The question of bail was deferred till next Monday.
