Hamer was taken to the residence of Air. and Airs. C. Johnston, Cumbrae Place, on Saturday night on the occasion of their silver wedding. On behalf of the thirty friends present, Mrs. Hamer presented Mrs. Johnston with a silver sandwich tray and a bouquet in pink tonings. A pleasant time was spent in games and competitions, the latter being won by Mrs. A. Nicholson and Mrs. Kirk (2). Mr. R. Tizard sang two songs. A dainty supper was served and the enjoyable I evening concluded with the singing ol “Auld Lang Syne.” RANGATAUA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING Airs. Slater presided over a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Rangafeaua Womens’ fnsliiute. Mrs. Shields gave the motto and the roll call was “An amusing incident on a wedding day.” Five new members nominated were Mesdames Alalanaphy, Jeffrey, Gould, Ward and Delaney. The competition, a tumbler arranged with weeds or wild flowers, or both was won by M'-x. Shields I, Mrs. Thodsen 2. Mrs. Alorgan 3. The prize was donated by Mrs. Wishaw. The now committee was elected and Mrs. Slater, who has been president for 'lhree years, was uanimously re-elected to the position. On behalf of the members, Mrs. I Stretton presented Mrs. Slater with a ! lovely bouquet, also one from Mrs. Bubb. a member who has been ill and unable to attend meetings. Mrs. Mitchell presented a bouquet to the president from Ihfli Young Group, with members’ names on a card attached. Sprays were presented to Mrs. Nicholls (for sending soldiers’ parcels), and the former secretary, Mrs. Remus, in appreciation of work done for the institute. Points prizi's were won by Mesdames Slatei 1, and Thodsen 2. A special prize donated ny Mrs. Ellerby, was won by Mrs. Stretton. Delegates were appointed to attend the annual meeting lo be held at Taihape in April. The hostesses were Mesdames R- Mills, Go Hi n and Luke.
