WANGANUI RETAILERS
PERMITS FOR CANVASSING The issuing of permits for the canvassing of retail establishments in Wanganui for gifts of goods or money for charitable or patriotic purposes was considered at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Retailers’ Association on Monday night. It wa.s decided that before the permits are issued, the applicants must produce satisfactory evidence that they are authorised to collect. The president. Mr. G. E. Bennett was requested to discuss the matter with Ihe Hon. W. J. Rogers. M.L.C.. Mayor of Wanganui. The members present were Messrs. G. E. E mnett (chairman). S. S. Timbs. W. J G’dlies. J. £U Gedye H. Rowell. W. Ke*me P. F. Reyonlds, and Mrs. M. A. McFarland. Mr. G. F. Williamson wrote advising that a.s he was engaged on Home Guard duties every night excepting Fridays b° would bp unable io continue on the executive committee.
