MOSSTON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Mosston W.I. was held on Tuesday in the hall. Mrs. Tipper, president, presided over a large meeting of members and visitors, including Mrs. Shanks, representing the federation and three members from the Aramoho W.I. They were each presented with a shoulder spray by the president. Two new members were nominated and two members received presents from the birthday box. Mrs. McDonnell read the motto. “Do all the good deeds you can in this world, and never mind who gets the credit.” Mrs. Churches was asked to be responsible for next month’s motto. Three letters of thanks were read from soldiers on active service, who have received parcels from the institute. Mrs. Stillborn and Mrs. Shaw were nominated for the federation committee, and Mrs. Atkinson was chosen for the reporting delegate at the half-veariv council meeting to be h‘dd in April. It was decided that th#* instilutc sub.-cribe to the Prisoners' of War leaflet. The monthly parcel was drawn in favour of Mr. Laing. The following patriotic knitting has been done this month: 12 scarves. 12 balaclavas, and 15 pairs of mittens. The arts and crafts circle has completed five camouflage nets since Christmas. The singing circle delighted with two items. After the usual monthly meeting the president presented each member of the committee with a shoulder spray, as she took her olace on the stage. Mrs. Shanks praised Mosston W.I. for th? work done during the year, and paid . a hearty tribute to Mrs. Tipper for work as president, and congratulated her on being returned as president un ■ ’’’ Tipper thanked Mrs. Shanks for her remarks. Mrs. Atkinson the retiring secre-I tary, read a very comprehensive report on the year’s activities, and was thanked for her good work. Miss Kinkead then read the treasurer’s statement in the absence of Mrs. Lynch, the treasurer. This showed a very satisfactory position. Regret was cxnr'ssed that Mrs. Lynch’s services were being lost through her removal from the district. The various circle reports were read. Seven of th'' knitting members were re.urned to the committee and three now members. Thev were all welcomed and congratulated by Mis. Tipper, after which the host r s e es served afternoon tea. Mrs. Sears was accorded a heartv vote of thanks for making the cakes for the tea. Competition result* were: Snonge sandwich do be sold for institute funds'. Mrs. Tipper 1. Mrs. McFarland 2.
