1 LABOUR ON DEFENCE WORKS. i e (P.A.) Wellington. March 14 d The Defence Works Labour Suse pension Order has been issued undei 1 the Labour Legislation Emergenc. - Regulations, 1940. It prescribes the e following hourly rates of wages:— - Carpenter, 3s 3d; labourer, 2s 9d: o labourer (concrete work), 2s lOd; :i bricklayer. 3s 4d; painter, 3s 2a; plumber, 3s 3d: electrician. 3s 2d; plasterer, 3s 4d; tiler. 3s 2d; timberworker machinist. 3s Id; timbei ; worker (small saw', 2s 9d; and driver • £7 15s a week. Any other class of worker employed I is to be paid wages on an hourly basis t calculated on the basis of one-fiftieth c of the total amount payable under the . relevant award or agreement for a 50- - hour week, with overtime at the rate s of time and a-half for the hours in . excess of the ordinary hours. ?
